Rollande L. Brochu

Rollande Lucienne Brochu, age 92, of Oxford, Connecticut entered into eternal rest on September 29, 2017, at home, by the side of her loving husband Gerard. Rollande was born on April 18, 1925 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, and grew up in Cookshire, Quebec, Canada with her eleven siblings and her parents, Real and Laura Noel. She and her husband Gerard came to Oxford in 1946 and made it their home for over seventy-one years of marriage. Rollande was devoted to her family, church, and community. As a wife and mother, her strong presence served as the foundation for her family; she enjoyed cultivating a happy home by baking pies, gardening, and crafting clothing, and she also worked outside the home to help shape and nurture her family. In her retirement years, Rollande was an active member of the Oxford Senior Center. She enjoyed quilting, playing the organ, and traveling to see her family, close and extended. Rollande also had a deep faith, and she served her church, St. Thomas the Apostle, as a Eucharistic minister for many years. Rollande will be deeply missed by her husband Gerard and their beloved children Roger and his wife Linda of Seymour; David and his wife Susan of Raleigh, North Carolina; Philip and his wife Mary Jane of Allentown, Pennsylvania; and Annette of Shelton; as well as twelve cherished grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. She also leaves behind three sisters: Fernande Underwood, Irene Roy, and Monique Hotte and her husband Marcel. She was predeceased by her two daughters, Louise and Lise and her siblings Therese, Marguerite, Jeannette, Albert, Henry, Adrien, Lucien, and Guy. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Rollande's Life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am (DIRECTLY) at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Interment will follow in the family plot at Southford Cemetery, Oxford. Friends and relatives are invited to join in celebrating Rollande's life at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, through the funeral home.
