Ronald (Steve) Johns, 76 of West Haven, formerly of East Haven and Seymour, the beloved husband of the late Helen (Turbert) Johns ,entered into eternal rest peacefully at Middlesex Hospital on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Derby, CT on November 15, 1938, the son of the late David Lester Johns and Mary (Smart) Johns. Steve as he was known by all was a graduate of Seymour High School Class of 1957. He worked for The New Haven Nursing Center as a Supervisor in the Housekeeping Department until his retirement. Steve was a former member of The Seymour Congregational Church. He served his country with pride and honor in the U.S.Army during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed photography, hiking and camping. But most of all Steve loved being with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all but will always remain forever in our hearts. Steve's family wishes to thank The Staff of Gladview Healthcare of Old Saybrook for their kind and compassionate care of Steve during his stay with them. His loving family includes his devoted daughter Heather Christine Shea and her husband Richard of West Haven, two cherished granddaughters Rebecca and Elizabeth Shea; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his cherished granddaughter Rachel Shea A Funeral Service in Celebration of Steve's life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 6:00 pm in the chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour with the Reverend Gale E. Grayson, officiating. Military honors will be accorded after the service. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Interment will be in the spring in Union Cemetery, Seymour at the convenience of the family.
