Rose Marie Bracci Profile Photo

Rose Marie Bracci died peacefully at the age of 92 with her family by her side on Tuesday April 27, 2021. Rose (known as Marie by her family and friends) was a loving wife, mother, and Nana. Born in Ansonia, Marie was the daughter of Everisto & Maria Cicerchia and was the youngest of 5 children. Marie graduated from Ansonia high school in 1946, and as a young woman she worked rolling cigars and later began expressing her creative nature colorizing photos with oil paints by hand for a professional photographer. She married her partner for life Stephen P. Bracci in 1953, and they were happily married for 59 years. Together they raised two sons, Steven and Tom. Marie worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for more than 30 years: first for Kasden Fuel Company, later for the Yudkin Fuel Oil Company, and retired from Commercial Heating. The family moved to Seymour in 1970 and built a house of their own design. Marie was extremely talented and shared her artistic gifts with her friends and loved ones. As a master baker she created intricate wedding cakes and was famous for her sheet pan apple pie (a birthday favorite). She was also gifted with needle and thread, creating beautiful quilts and needlepoint designs. She loved making old things new, creating art out of seashells and giving furniture new life. She dedicated herself to her loved ones; caring for her parents in their declining health and later in life caring for her husband, giving them the gift of an additional 25 years together. Marie and Stephen enjoyed winters in Florida and celebrating every day they had together, especially when they were surrounded by their family. She was part of a loving extended family, and she is now reunited with her beloved husband. Marie used to sing "You Are My Sunshine" to her granddaughters, but in truth she was the sunshine to everyone she met. Marie is survived by her son Steven Bracci and his wife Janet, son Tom Bracci and his partner Judy Rovegno; grandchildren Chelsea and Nicole Bracci and several nieces and nephews. Rose is predeceased by her siblings Beatrice (Bogart), Joseph Cicerchia, Anna (Tuccio) & Dominic Cicerchia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Connecticut Hospice of Branford as they provided wonderful care in her final days. Internment and celebration of her life will occur later this year.
