Ruth G. McCaffrey, age 82, of Beacon Falls, the beloved wife of Howard McCaffrey, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 14, 1942, the loving daughter of the late Clifford Van Velsor and Mabel Botting McCormac. Ruth graduated from Mineola High School in 1960, she then went to Berkeley Secretarial School in 1962. Upon graduation she worked for Sperry Gyroscope in Lake Success, NY in the secretarial field. Later in life she worked for the New Milford Public School System as a Paraprofessional. Ruth was an avid homemaker taking great pride in her home the raising of her beloved children, and then her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Oxford, Ct. where she was a lay minister. Ruth also leaves behind many dear friends, she was an avid card player at the clubhouse, attended regular women’s luncheons, and other fun activities. Ruth had unlimited caring and compassion for others, bringing much needed light into the world here on earth. Ruth will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts.
In addition to her beloved husband Howard, Ruth’s loving family includes her loving children daughter Debra Anderson and son Kevin McCaffrey and his wife Kelly, her four cherished grandchildren Sarah, Megan, Ben and Justin. She is also survived by three caring nieces Gretchen, Beth and Kate.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her stepfather Christopher T. McCormac and her brother William Van Velsor.
A Memorial Service in Celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church 421 Oxford Rd., CT., 06478 at 10:00 am.
