Ruth I. Edgren

Ruth Ingeborg Edgren, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Griffin Hospital, Derby, CT. She was born on June 27, 1923, the daughter of the late Albin and Lydia Ekelund. She was the loving wife of the late Tore Ivan Edgren, who passed away in 1996. Born in Munkfors, Varmland, Sweden, Ruth emigrated to the US in 1950 and married Tore Ivan in 1953. She was a kind, loving, compassionate woman, loved by all, and a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her. Ruth was a caregiver throughout her life; to her sisters with disabilities, her mother following a stroke and later her own children and grandchildren. She resided in Bridgeport, CT and returned often to Sweden to visit her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a peaceful disposition, loved to travel, enjoyed being near the ocean and was a big fan of Bernie Sanders. Ruth is survived by two sons, John Edgren of Bridgeport CT, Lars Edgren of Beacon Falls and wife Janet, her three grandchildren; Christy Edgren of Woodstock, VT, Eric Edgren of Los Angeles CA and Kara Williams of Davie, FL and husband Zachary and her two precious great grandchildren, Isla and Sierra Williams of Davie, FL. She also leaves a nephew, Steig Wennerstrom, and his wife, Solveig, of Munkfors, Sweden. Services will be private.
