Sophie Deren

Sophie Gala Deren age 93 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late John J. Deren, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Griffin Hospital. Sophie was born in Seymour on November 8, 1919, the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Lesniak Gala. She was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She was a former employee of Americap of Seymour and previously worked at The Tingue Mills of Seymour and at The Center School Annex Cafeteria. Sophie was an avid homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved being with her family and friends and especially enjoyed playing pinochle. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her loving family includes her two caring sons Russell (Tana) Deren of Ohio and Bruce (Teri) Deren of New York, nine cherished grandchildren Kristin (Al) Molin of Seymour, John (Deb) Deren of Fairfield, Brian Deren of Ca.,Joan Daly and Kelli (Ben) Wrogg all of Seymour, Marc Deren of Fl.,Jason (Lynn) Deren of West Hartford, Pat (Michelle) Deren and Bethany Deren all of Va., nine cherished great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son John G. Deren, her sister Stella Barna and her brother Julius Gala. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 9:15 AM in the Miller-Ward Funeral Home 260 Bank Street, 'Rte 67' Seymour (opposite Klarides Village), with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 AM at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Michael Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call Saturday Morning from 8:15 A.M. until 9:15 A.M.
