Theodore (Ted) J. Holly, Sr., age 85, the beloved husband of 65 years to Lillian (Sova) Holly, passed away peacefully at his home in Milford with his loving family at his side on April 26, 2016. He was born in Bridgeport on December 20, 1930, the eldest of six children to the late Sophie (Nevelus) Holly and John Holly, Sr. Ted was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class aboard the U.S.S. Proteus and the U.S.S. Salerno Bay. He was a member for over 50 years of the Knights of Columbus Tinto Council 47 of Milford, becoming a Fourth Degree Knight. Ted was a retiree of 25 years from AVCO Lycoming Textron as a Supervisor of Manufacturing and later retiring after 25 years from the Heim Ball Bearing as a manager of Quality Control. He enjoyed camping while traveling throughout the United States with his family. While at home, he attended to his bee hives and gardens. In his quiet time, Ted collected old stamps and coins. During the later part of his life, he found pleasure in taking trips with his wife to various casinos. Ted's loving family in addition to his wife Lillian includes his three children Theodore J. Holly, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Seymour, Shelley Moyher and her husband Stephen of East Haven and Marc Holly, Sr. and his wife Ruth of MA., his eight grandchildren Theodore Holly III, Jake (Robyn) Holly, Robert (Anna) Holly, all of Seymour, Nicole Capoccitti of Chicago, Lauren Capoccitti of Texas and Crystal, Marc Jr. and Daniel Holly of MA., his six great-grandchildren Tyler, Levi and Paxton Holly of Seymour, David and Andrew Ayers of MA. and Madisen Holly of MA., his brothers Donald (Carol) Holly of Milford and John Holly, Jr. of VA., his sister Barbara (Donald) Rogers of MA., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ted was predeceased by his two brothers Richard "Tippy" Holly and Edward "Corky" Holly and his grandson Steven Lukas. The family would like to give special thanks to all of the staff at VITAS for their help and care given to their Father during this difficult time. A Funeral Mass in Celebration of Ted's Life will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10:00 at St. Gabriel Church, 26 Broadway, Milford. All other services are private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Ted's memory may be made to Alzheimer's research or to VITAS Home Hospice of CT.
