Thomas David Stebar," Uncle Tom", age 75, of Seymour entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 26,2021 at home after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Derby on April 30, 1946, beloved son of the late Stanley (George) and Mary Koretz Stebar. Thomas was a proud graduate of Seymour High School, class of 1964. He retired from the Kerite Company of Seymour where he had been employed for forty years. Tom was an avid sports fan and was a star player in his youth in the Seymour Little League. The Super Bowl pools and the daily numbers were a small part of the enjoyments in his life. He loved his music, being able to enjoy everything from Woodstock to following the Beatles through England. Being the trivia expert he was, came from buying 6 newspapers every day at John's Deli. He was a local icon in the town of Seymour, always helping his many neighbors, friends, and family. Tom was also known to enjoy spending time at several business establishments. He was a member of the Oxford American Legion, Post #174, the Russian American Club, Concordia Singing Society, and he continued to love his heritage in the Russian Orthodox Church. Tommy will be sadly missed by all, but will remain in our hearts forever. His loving family includes his beloved brother Ron Stebar and his wife Marilyn of Oxford, his two cherished nieces Bonnie Segit from Cooperstown, NY, and Jacqueline McDonnell and her husband Matthew of Oxford. Special friends Laura Burr and her husband Jerry of Middlebury, and several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his best friend and the love of his life Reggie Baranowski. Visitation for the family and friends will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Miller Ward Funeral home in Seymour. A funeral service in celebration of Tom's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour will be held following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's memory to the George J Hummel Little League or the Seymour High School Athletic Department, through the funeral home.
