Walter Joseph Arsenault, age 90, predeceased by his beloved wife Ann Marie Goneau Arsenault of 53 years, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 10, 2022, peacefully, at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Stratford, July 3, 1932, the beloved son of the late Addie and Beatrice Arsenault. Walter was enlisted in the National Guard for 9 years and was employed by the Bridgeport Brass Company until his employment at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford as a tool and dye worker for the next 35 years. Walter was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Oxford. Walter was a patient, cheerful, friendly man with a great sense of humor, who embraced life fully. One couldn't help but feeling better after spending any time with Walter. He was a wonderful, devoted, and nurturing husband, father and grandfather who loved celebrating everyone's birthday and sharing his musical candles. Favorite memories included summer camping trips and enjoying an ice cream together. He attended countless sports events, plays, and recitals of his grandchildren. Walter was very skilled at fixing things and his many interests included caring for bluebirds, fishing, hunting, model building, and most recently, building a rock tower and a dollhouse. His loving family includes his beloved brothers, Edgar Arsenault and his wife Dorothy of Stratford, and John Arsenault and his wife Pamela, of Newtown; his loving sisters Mildred Findley, and late husband John of Florida and Rose Nemeth and late husband Gus of Stratford. Walter's family includes his beloved sons, Joseph W. Arsenault and his wife, Connie of Lake Orion, Michigan and Thomas J. Arsenault and his wife LeAnn of Southbury; his devoted daughters, Cathleen M. Adamczyk and her husband, Andrew of Ansonia, Maureen M. DeMatteo and her predeceased husband Dr, Pasquale of New Haven, and Eileen M. Westgate and her husband, James of Oxford; sixteen cherished grandchildren, 6 cherished great-grandchildren, with one on the way, and several loving nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter, Nicole Arsenault and his beloved brother, Alfred Arsenault, and loving Goddaughter, Janet Dinnihanian. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Walter's Life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10:00 am (Directly) at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford. Interment with military honors will be accorded in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and family may call at The Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St., (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made in Walter's memory to, The American Cancer Society, The Alzheimer's Association or FOCUS Center for Autism, through the funeral home.
