William Crowther

William Raymond Crowther, age 84, the beloved husband for 56 years of Margaret Elizabeth Crowther, entered into rest on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Griffin Hospital, Derby. He was born in Derby on July 30, 1926, son of the late William and Margaret Luetters Crowther. Bill graduated in 1962 with a Business Administration degree from Quinnipiac College and was a Salesman for many years with the Bacon Printing Company of Derby. He proudly served his county as a member of the Merchant Marines and with the United States Army in Korea. Bill had been a resident of Oxford since 1945 and was very active in his community. He was a member of the Oxford Zoning Board and coordinated the Oxford Community Car Pool for over 20 years. Bill was an active member of the Oxford United Church of Christ Congregational and served in many different leadership roles. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Bill's loving family, in addition to his wife Margaret, includes his son Richard Crowther and his wife Patti of Southbury, his two daughters Janet Crowther and her husband James Heller of Williamsburg, VA and Laura Clark and her husband William of Hilton Head, SC, his brother Clinton Crowther and his wife Patricia of Edgewater, FL, his seven grandchildren Michael Crowther, Benjamin Heller, James Crowther, Seth Heller, Gregg Sluti, Kristin Sluti and Patrick Sluti, his sisters and brothers in law Idella Schmidt and her husband Glenn, Lucy Dischert and her husband William, Marie Donofrio, Arthur Schreiber and his wife Linda, Nancy Tuccio and Thomas Schreiber and his wife Shirley, his nephew Clinton Crowther, his niece Catherine Salem, his cousins Margaret Lanctot and Charles Terrill and several other loving nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Bill's Life will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Oxford United Church of Christ Congregational, 3 Academy Road, Oxford, CT 06478.
