William F. Simons

William (Bill) Francis Simons, age 90, of Woodbridge, formerly of Seymour, the beloved husband of the late Claire Merlino Simons, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn,NY on August 25, 1922 son of the late Eugene and Margaret Halley Simons. Bill was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Seymour and was a member of the church's mens club. He was an extremely talented artist. His wood carvings, sketches and paintings will be treasured always. His sense of humor and gifts in conversation will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Bill was the Sales Promotion Manager for the former B.F. Goodrich Company of Shelton and was the former Advertising Manager for Better Packages Inc. of Shelton. Bill served with pride and honor in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-1946 and attained the rank of Technical Sergeant in the 5th Infantry serving in Italy. His loving family includes his two caring sons James R. Simons and his wife Terry and John D. Simons all of Southington; and his loving daughter Claire M. Rillstone and her husband Donald of Seymour, a cherished granddaughter Samantha L. Allard of Seymour; and his cherished nieces, Peggy & Monica. He was predeceased by his beloved sister Eileen Murphy and his beloved brothers Eugene Simons and Raymond Halley. Bill's family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Emeritus in Woodbridge for helping him to keep active and happy during these past few years. Your kindness and friendship meant the world to him and to us. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held (Directly)at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour, on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM.. Interment in the family plot with full military honors to be accorded at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home 260 Bank Street, 'Rte 67' (opposite Klarides Village), Seymour. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Bill's memory to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108.
